Origami Pulmonary Artery Band

In newborns born with conditions like single ventricle, defective heart chambers put great strain on developing arteries. Current treatment methods involve the early implantation of artery bands, whose adjustments may necessitate additional open heart surgeries.

Our project seeks to develop an artery band that can be adjusted post-operatively and non-intrusively. We utilize a variation on the square REBO pattern, the state-switch REBO pattern, to produce bands that can be magnetically actuated to have different inner radii.
